Last month, I was asked by NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to design and create a souvenir patch for the Endeavour Fly Out scheduled for Monday (Sept. 17). I was proud to have the help of Jorge Cartes and Nathan Moeller of Max Q Entertainment. Today I delivered their patch order.
The design for this patch was inspired by the fly out images of space shuttle Discovery last April. I wasn't in Florida for that event, I was attending the National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs at the time. Watching Discovery fly low and slow over the Space Coast beaches in tribute to the people that cared for her was awesome.
I have now been authorized to share the design publicly. If you are interested in purchasing one of these limited edition patches, contact the Visitor Complex's Space Shop.
Coincidentally, Monday will be the 36th anniversary of the unveiling of the very first orbiter Enterprise. The last orbiter built, Endeavour, will depart Kennedy on the same day for the final time.
